Zoe's Books

I could read before I could write. I read now, when I can't write, or when I'm stuck in a writing rut. I read early in the morning, and late at night. I read to feel, and escape from feelings, and explore feelings I've never had but I'm curious about. I read for adventure and romance and passion and the journey. I read to my kids. I try to read to my husband, but he's busy reading himself. And he laughs at all the naughty parts...I don't get it, they're my favourite passages!

Hell on Wheels - Julie Ann Walker I think my expectations were too high for this book.

Things that worked:
* the issue that holds Nate back from being free to love Ali. That was gut wrenching and dealt with well through out the book.
* Becky and Frank ... even though this book was just okay for me, I'm really looking forward to reading their story next

Things that didn't work:
* a 15 hour motorcycle trip
* sleeping on the back of a motorcycle? is that a thing you can do?
* a pretty emotional death toward the end...didn't see it coming

And Ali pukes. A LOT. It was gross. I'm separating that from the list of things that didn't work because it worked at the end, but seemed unnecessary right up until it made sense.
